Living Off-Grid in the Pacific Northwest

Survival on the Oregon Coast,

... tsunamis, massive storms, potential  government collapse, people are preparing for the worst. Gas generators, solar panels windmills even mini hydro electric generators.  Some systems are even making money from demestic power generation.

"Preppers" from all walks of life are increasing in number and investment level.  Families approach advanced planning by squirreling away yearlong food and water supplies and large supplies of ammunition.

Family energy concerns is growing too, from simple solar powered systems to supply charging power for computers and LED lights to elaborate home generators people increasingly see the need for power generation. Remote locations such as the Oregon Coast are particularly vulnerable due to the Oregon Coast range, in many potential emergency situations the mountains could prove a major barrier to travel and commerce.

With a background in horticulture I have been a life long proponent of home and community food production. I have also worked with both passive and active solar energy, wind power and water power generation.  Now I write a series on the power, food and water issues featuring concepts unique and artistic solutions in survival planning.

I call it;
